Our Projects

Pentasys has been engaged to develop and implement a comprehensive Microsoft Sharepoint environment to replace and consolidate their existing 12 departmental intranets. Additionally, we are working with them to implement comprehensive workflow applications for their customer service staff.

Pentasys’ engagement with CEA included the design and deployment of a worldwide network encompassing locations in North America and Europe. A full Microsoft Windows network was deployed including Microsoft Exchange for mail and SQL Server for database applications.

The design included domain and user models and access control as well as user security definitions and Active Directory design and implementation. We also assisted in the selection of a communications vender for the worldwide network. We designed and implemented a security system that provides safe, compliance based secure remote access to their networks using a combination of encrypted VPN connections and Citrix Presentation Server 4.5. Most recently, we helped them implement a real-time disaster recovery scenario that provides for complete failover of their key systems to a co-location facility.

Pentasys has been working with Barker Management since 1993. We have supported their network and business growth from a Novell Netware 3.11 system through their current Windows 2008 and Citrix XenApp environment. We recently helped them significantly reduce the cost of management and support of their network by migrating their data center to a completely virtual environment with 17 virtual servers running in a high availability architecture on 4 physical servers connected to an iSCSI SAN.

Their Citrix environment supports both their internal users and a Property Management application they host for over 200 remote management offices in the Southwestern United States.

Pentasys initially helped Sweet Productions migrate from their existing Novell 3.12 environment to a Windows 2003 domain as part of an enterprise deployment of a wireless and barcode based inventory management system. We have deployed Citrix Presentation Server and Terminal Server environment for remote users and hand held scanners used in their inventory system.

We also were responsible for securing their internet and wireless networks. To help them ensure continuity of their mission critical applications we created a completely mirrored network using NSI Double-take software that allows real-time failover of any server on their network.

Pentasys has worked with Wellcraft for many years in a variety of capacities including network design and implementation and facility connectivity including campus wide Fiber Optics and Gigabit Ethernet. Recently Pentasys was contracted and completed the development of a secure dealer Extranet to provide online ordering and information to Wellcraft’s worldwide network of dealers.

We have also worked with them for Citrix deployments and operating system design and implementation projects.

Pentasys has been working with EMI since 1997. We began by implementing their first Windows NT network. This was then migrated to Windows 2000 and then to Windows 2003. We have helped them enter the world of e-commerce and provided remote access their network via Citrix and SSL based VPN solutions.

We work very closely with their executives to ensure that their technology keeps pace with their business growth and objectives.

Pentasys’ was originally contracted in 1998 to migrate Dosatron’s Novell Network to Windows NT Server as a platform of operation for an aggressive information systems strategy. Pentasys provided close assistance in the development of the IS plan and then provided all installation services.

Technologies installed include in-house electronic mail and web servers using Microsoft Exchange and Internet Information Server. Remote clients access the network via a Virtual Private Network which supports file transfer and Goldmine contact management data synchronization. Great Plains Dynamics was installed for financial applications. The entire internal network is secured from the Internet using Juniper Netscreen firewalls. The end result is a network optimized for performance security and functionality.

Pentasys’ involvement with Unisource Administrators spans over a decade. Our work began with the deployment of their first local area network in 1996. Since then we have continued to support their growth. Our most recent project involved the migration of their 600 user community to a distributed Windows 2003 domain including Exchange 2003.

We deployed EMC Clarion systems with Mirror-view for replication of their mission critical application data and VMWare and Double-take for business continuity of their MS Exchange Servers. In addition we designed and implemented a disaster recovery plan involving the establishment of a co-location facility for business continuity of their e-commerce and mission critical applications. We also worked in partnership with Cisco Systems and Qwest Communications for the deployment of an enterprise wide MPLS and Voice over IP (VoIP) network.

The challenge presented to Pentasys by Gardner Asphalt was to find a cost effective way to provide centralized access to an accounting system for 13 remote manufacturing locations. Our first step was to build and stabilize the existing network infrastructure by migrating their network from Window NT 4.0 to an Active Directory based Windows 2003 Domain.

We then helped Gardner negotiate for a private wide-area-network to support the communications links between the corporate office in Tampa and the nationally distributed manufacturing plans as well as redundant links to the internet for e-mail and web access. A Checkpoint Appliance based firewall was put in place as well as an Intrusion Detection System to provide secure access to the network from remote users. Finally we implemented a multi-server Citrix farm to support thin client devices in each plant. The end result is a centralized robust network that can be completely managed by the small IT staff in Tampa.
